I think I'm amongst the masses here when i say i didn't see this one coming. In a hip hop / Rnb culture that's dominated by alpha males who give the impression that they can have any woman they want at any time,one of it's brightest and youngest superstars has admitted to being gay. Odd Future vocalist Frank Ocean earlier revealed via his tumblr that he has been secretly gay for about 4 years now and has struggled mightily to keep it just that....a secret.
In the heartfelt letter Frank says stuff such as
"In the last year or 3 I've screamed at my creator,screamed at the clouds in the sky.For some explanation.Mercy maybe.For peace of mind to rain like manna somehow."
and....
"4 summers ago i met somebody,i was 19 years old.He was too.we spent that summer and the summer after together.Everyday almost.And on the days we were together time would glide."
" Thanks to my mother,you raised me strong,i know i'm only brave because you were first...so thank you.All of you.For everything good. I feel like a free man. If i listen closely i can hear the sky falling too "
After reading a few tweets and blog posts there seems to be a mixed reaction from the public after hearing this news.I personally WILL continue to listen to Frank's music.i don't have anything philosophical to add to that...i just think the dude makes great music and i don't think him being gay will change that...
So kudos to you Frank,no one deserves to suffer alone so continue to make good music and i hope your mind is at peace homie.....you can read the letter in it's entirety here
